Mortgage life insurance — protecting the place they call home ♡

A mortgage is a big commitment: it’s probably your biggest commitment at the moment, right?

It’s also a commitment you don’t want your spouse or children to bear in the unfortunate event something happens to you. You don’t want your loved ones to worry about how they’re going to make the repayments when you’re not around.

The truth is, a Mortgage life insurance is all about helping you protect the place your loved ones call home. With Mortgage Life Insurance, the insurance cover would help to pay off your mortgage in upon your passing during the period of the policy. Your loved ones need not worry about debts and financial burdens, or the possibility of having to sell the house.

Now, you’re probably wondering why you would need a Mortgage Life Insurance if you already have Life insurance. The biggest difference between the two is that they are designed with different protection purposes in mind. Some people want a policy that will help protect their family financially if they were to pass away during the policy term. Others may want a policy that could help their family with the mortgage payment. Mortgage Life Insurance is specifically designed to ensure your mortgage repayments would be covered if you died or fell seriously ill during the term of the plan.

At Sacos we understand that everyone’s circumstances are different, which is why we have worked extremely hard to revamp our policy and bring you the best protection at the most competitive rate! Interested? Get a quote here.

Why should I Buy a Mortgage Insurance?

When it comes to protecting one of your most valuable assets, a mortgage insurance is crucial in case something unfortunate happens to you. There are two main options for protecting yourself: you can either take out mortgage life insurance protection specifically to cover your mortgage or secured loan repayments, which have been taken to build/purchase your new home, refurb your current home, invest in a business / in your or your child’s education, purchase a new car, and more, or get a credit life protection insurance to cover small-unsecured loans.

Your mortgage is probably your biggest monthly outgoing. If you were unable to work due to disability or death, you or your family would still need to make the repayments for your ,loan or you would risk losing your assets. Sacos mortgage life insurance plan is here to protect you and your family!

General things you need to know about Sacos Travel Insurance

What does a Sacos Travel Insurance Policy typically cover?

Travel insurance policies can vary depending on the country you are travelling to, especially in terms of how much protection they offer, but as a general rule, we will cover you for the following:

  • Delays
  • Cancellation or curtailment
  • Lost or stolen baggage or belongings
  • Personal liability
  • Medical costs and repatriation.
  • 24 hours personal assistance service
  •  Personal accident cover of USD35,000 under the worldwide plan
  • Cover from 7 to 92 days

What does travel insurance typically exclude?

As with most insurance agencies, we do not cover pre-existing medical conditions, so make sure you find the policy you are considering will provide you with sufficient protection if you do have any health issues.

Policies also won’t pay out for any losses which arise as a result of you being drunk or under the influence of drugs.

And travel cover will typically exclude winter sports such as skiing and snow-boarding, as well as extreme sports such as bungee-jumping or sky-diving.

What if I have a medical condition which is under control, do I need to tell insurers?

Yes, you do. As your insurer, we need to know your medical history and any conditions you’ve suffered from previously, or  any claim you make could be rejected. A pre-existing condition usually means any medical condition for which medical advice, diagnosis, care or treatment has been either received or recommended.

Never be tempted to withhold information, as if you do make a claim the insurance company will be able to access your medical records.

I’m pregnant, do I need a specific type of travel insurance?

Most standard travel insurance policies will cover you if you’re pregnant, but usually only until you’re around seven months pregnant. Bear in mind that airlines often impose restrictions on how close to your due date you are when you travel. You will need their permission to fly if you are nearly full-term and may have to provide a note from your doctor confirming you are fit to fly.

How do I make a travel insurance claim?

To make a claim, contact us as soon as something goes wrong. Sacos Insurance Group has a 24-hour helpline so you can contact us at any time.

Don’t forget that oftentimes evidence is needed to support your claim. For example, if your valuables have been stolen, you will need a police statement. Or, in the event of lost baggage, you should get a form confirming this from the airport and submit it with your claim.

What to do if you lose your passport whilst on holiday

The thought of losing your passport while you’re on holiday is a daunting one, but sadly it is a reality for many vacationers. Amidst the chaos and stress of losing your passport, we do not want you to worry about the financial aspect of the ordeal, hence the inclusion in our travel insurance policy!

Here are some useful information to help you organise emergency travel documents and make a claim on your travel insurance if you lose your passport or have your passport stolen when you are abroad.

What to do if your passport is lost or stolen:

Always report the loss or theft of your passport to the local police of the country you are visiting and obtain a police report as soon as possible. This is usually needed to obtain replacement travel documents and to make a successful claim on your travel insurance.

Contact the nearest Seychelles Embassy or Consulate. They should be able to issue emergency travel documentation to enable you to return back to the Seychelles. In the absence of both, contact the Consular Affairs Section at the Department of Foreign Affairs

If applicable, complete the form to cancel your missing passport. (This is important to prevent identity theft which is a growing crime)

Call the number provided in your travel insurance policy. You will be assisted either with the help of finding and securing your lost passport or the cost of refund in relation to getting a new passport.

*Once you are back in the Seychelles, contact us to recoup the cost of your emergency documentation, up to the amount shown in your policy schedule. You will need to supply a police report and evidence of the cost of any emergency documentation.
